The Rockport-Fulton area is a great place to be. Not only do you have access to fantastic beaches and gorgeous coastal scenery, but there seems to always be something fun happening in the area. If you were in the region earlier this month, we hope you made it down to the Fulton waterfront for the Fulton Oysterfest. If you missed it, don’t worry it’ll be back next year, and there are also a number of other great community events on the calendar. In today’s blog, we at Villas at Royal Oaks would like to share with you some of these upcoming events.

Whether you are visiting the “Charm of the Texas Coast”, live here, or planning a move, we hope that this list prevents you from missing out. Below are some upcoming Rockport-Fulton events:

Babes on the Bay

To promote women’s fishing in the Aransas Bay area, the Aransas Bay Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) every year holds an all-women fishing tournament known as the Babes on the Bay fishing tournament. Although the fishing is for women only, it still provides a great opportunity for people all across the bay and Texas to come together and enjoy a fun-filled weekend of music, food, vendors, and more. Additionally, a primary goal of the event is to educate the public about conservation issues. The tournament is scheduled to take place from May 19 to 20. Festival of Wines

What began as a fundraiser in 1997 to support the Texas Maritime Museum now offers the area a fabulous weekend of delicious food, wine, beer, live music, vendors, cooking demonstrations, and more—and on top of this, it all supports a good cause! In recent years, the event welcomed over 2,500 visitors from over 25 states. If you are looking for an opportunity to try exclusive vintage wines by the glass or simply take the family out for a fun weekend, you’re going to want to mark your calendars. Rockport Art Festival

Thanks to this long-running festival, Rockport-Fulton is the place to be during the July 4th weekend. The event is held at the Rockport Center for the Arts. Each year the event includes the works of over 100 artists, as well as performances by local bands, activities for kids, and, of course, lots of delicious food. If you attend this festival you can expect to see magnificent paintings, jewelry, wood, mixed media, sculptures, photography, ceramics, and much more! HummerBird Celebration

Every fall the ruby-throated hummingbirds migrate to the Rockport-Fulton area. We think this is an occasion worthy of a celebration and that is just what we do during the HummerBird Celebration. This year will mark the 30th year of the celebration, which will take place from September 13 to 16. If you have never attended the event, you can expect an array of self-guided activities, like walking tours, boating trips, strolling through outdoor exhibits, and attending seminars. On October 12 the 43rd Annual Rockport Seafair will take place at the Rockport-Fulton Texas Navigation Circle. The event began over 40 years ago when founder Bill Christian wanted to hold a celebration that filled the lull between the summer and winter visitors. Many of the original events became annual events and if you attend this year, you are sure to see a parade, arts and crafts, live bands, water entertainment, gumbo and chili cook-off, paddleboard race, car show, delicious food and an array of other festivities. For complete information regarding this event—including event applications, schedules, and more—check out the Rockport Seafair website.

This is, of course, just a sample of some of the events taking place in the area. There are a number of other regular happenings like yacht club meetups, bingo, water testing classes, walking tours, theater, and much, much more.
